I’d like to clarify a few important points regarding the scenario you described. In Excel, a hyperlink is fundamentally designed to navigate to a web address (URL), a location within a document, or to open a blank email using the mailto:
protocol. It does not have the capability to trigger complex automated processes such as locating a PDF file stored in SharePoint and attaching it to an email draft.
Since your PDF files are stored in SharePoint, this setup requires using Excel on the web. Office Scripts can be used to generate and send emails with PDFs created from Excel content, but they do not have direct access to files stored in SharePoint. Therefore, Power Automate is the recommended tool to bridge that gap and enable the automation you’re looking for, as it builds a workflow that can retrieve the PDF from SharePoint and generate an email draft with the file attached.
