I am running out of diskspace on my Macbook. Turned out that the space outlook is taking is huge.

How can I reduce the diskspace? I am connected with 2 accounts on the microsoft online exchange servers.

I think it has to do with the seach database. When I run out of diskspace I can no longer perform any search in outlook.

    Hi Conrad Hagemans,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum

Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!

Thank you very much for reaching out to us regarding the issue of Outlook using a large amount of disk space on your Mac. We completely understand how inconvenient this situation can be, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

To assist you more effectively, may I kindly ask you to check your mailbox storage usage on Outlook Web? The reason I am requesting this is so I can compare the mailbox size on the server with the actual space Outlook is using on your Mac. This comparison will help me determine the most appropriate way to address the issue for you.

Please help me check according to these steps:

    1. Log in to Outlook Web at https://outlook.office.com.
    2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner.
    3. Type "storage" in the search box, then select "Storage" or go to "Account" > "Storage".
    4. Check the amount of storage used and the total mailbox size.

If possible, please send me a screenshot or let me know the storage details you see on Outlook Web. Additionally, it would be very helpful if you could also check and share the amount of disk space that Outlook is using on your Mac. Having both pieces of information the mailbox size on the server and the local storage usage will allow me to compare them and recommend the most suitable next steps for your situation.

Because there are many cases that lead to datarisk being filled by outlook, so double check as above in order for me to provide some suitable solutions with you

If your mailbox is nearly full: We can guide you on how to clean up old emails or, if needed, help you contact your IT department to enable Online Archive, which can help reduce the space used on your computer.

If your mailbox is not large: The issue may be related to local cache or search database files on your Mac. In this case, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions to clear the cache and rebuild the database, which should help free up space and improve Outlook’s performance.

If you have any questions or need assistance at any point, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We are always here to listen and support you, and your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us.

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation. We look forward to your reply and to assisting you further.

Thank you very much answering my questions. I did as you said check the online size (see image) and also checked the local folder size (see also image). The online storage is 17gb while the local storage is 88gb. That is a huge difference. Any advise how to reduce the local size is welcome.
