How do I fix the "we are sorry, but this feature is deprecated" message in PPT when I try to insert a slide from another presentation?

I used to be able to reuse slides from another presentation. The feature is still there, but when I go to use it, I receive the message "we are sorry, but this feature is deprecated". I've looked up how to merge presentations and all the results are the same--that I can copy and paste or select the reuse slides option. Does anyone know how I can fix this or a workaround besides copy/paste?

Hi, thank you for reaching out!

That message means the “Reuse Slides” feature has been officially removed (deprecated) in some versions of PowerPoint, especially in Microsoft 365 or PowerPoint for the web. Microsoft no longer supports it even if the option still appears.

    Workaround:

Open both presentations > go to the thumbnail pane on the left > drag and drop the slides you want to reuse. Or you can copy and paste the slides as another reliable method.

    Warm regards,

    Arlene D.
