Dear Sergiu,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A.
I understand how frustrating it can be when Copilot doesn’t retain the detailed information you’ve shared, especially after you’ve gone to the effort of providing specific details to personalize your experience.
Copilot is designed with limited memory and context windows. This means they prioritize recent conversations for personalization rather than maintaining long-term memory like a human would. When you provide detailed information, Copilot can retain it within a single session or for a short period, typically up to a day or so, but it isn’t built to store and recall extensive personal details over weeks or months.
While this behavior can’t be fully changed, there is a tip to help you get better result: At the start of a new session, briefly remind Copilot of the key details you want it to consider. For example, you could say, “Remember, I told you about [specific detail]. Use that in your responses today.” This helps it tailor its answers based on what you’ve shared, even if it doesn’t recall past sessions on its own.
I know this isn’t the perfect solution, and it’s disappointing when Copilot doesn’t meet your expectations despite your efforts. Your experience highlights an area where AI could improve, and I encourage you to share your feedback through the Feedback Hub. This lets Microsoft know that long-term memory is important to users like you and could influence future updates.
