When I right click on cell, I can add new note, but I am unable to type anything into it

Please don't delete or remove anything.
First, restart the Mac to see if the issue persists. if it does, a need for updates is most like the cause. Please provide the present Version Numbers of both macOS & Office so the status can be confirmed.
