I am trying to sign up for Azure for Students, but my domain is not recognized. I also cannot access the verification app because I receive this error:

“Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services'…”

Please assist me by enabling access or adding me manually as an external user so I can complete my registration.

Thank you so much!

    Hello yulfa micro,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

    Please find the below solution:
Get access to Azure for Students using your school account and complete Authenticator verification.

    A) Check If Your School Domain Is Eligible Go to the official Azure for Students page:
    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students/

Click Start → Enter your school email → Microsoft checks if the domain is eligible.

If your domain isn’t recognized, it means your school hasn’t registered with Microsoft for academic services.

    B) If Eligible but Still Getting Errors (like “user does not exist”) Try these:

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com and try signing in with your school email.
If it says account doesn’t exist → Create a Microsoft account manually using that email.
    2. Then go back to the Azure for Students page and retry the registration.
    3. If Authenticator still gives issues, log in to: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info and check if your device or Authenticator app is registered properly.

    C) If Domain Is Not Eligible or You’re Stuck in Tenant Confusion There are two options:

    1. Use a different eligible school email (if you have one).
    2. Ask your school’s IT department to:

Or manually verify your domain and enable access.

    D) Guest User Suggestion You Mentioned? Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow individuals to manually add themselves as external users to the Microsoft Services tenant. That’s a security feature.

If you’re working with a teacher, IT admin, or support rep from Microsoft, they can potentially invite your email as a guest user, but this is rare for Azure for Students — which is meant to be self-service only.

If above solutions do not work out for you, could you please let us know below details that would help us assist you better.

What email address are you trying to use to sign up (university or personal)?

Have you previously used this email with any Microsoft services?

And if you have any screenshot of the error, please share with us.

    Regards,

    Monalisha
