Stock data type disappeared after updating Excel to version 16.95 in Microsoft 365 for Mac

Any idea when the issue with the stock data type will be resolved? It has been months since the first reports about the issue.

I understand the frustration caused by the disappearance of the Stock data in Excel for Mac after updating to version 16.95. Please help me narrow down the issue by answering these questions:

What is your current MacOS and Office version?
Have you updated your Office version to the latest 16.99 to see whether the latest version help resolve the issue? Please click on this link to download the 16.99 version.

If the update still doesn't work, please feel free to submit your feedback to our Office team to know about this issue and have it fixed as soon as possible via Microsoft Feedback Portal

In the meantime, you can try reverting back to Office version 16.98, MacOS 15.4, which i tested working fine.

Hi @Ian-T
I'm on version 16.89 as this is the only working version for me. I tryed every new version, but none of them are working for me. i'm on mac 15.5.

Feedback has already been given to the office team on 15/5, but haven't heard back from them. Hope they can solve it quickly or at least give feedback.

Thank you for message and for sharing the details. I understand that you are only available to the version 16.89 and macOS 15.5.

I appreciate you already provided the feedback to the Office team on May 15th, I will follow up with them to check on the status and ensure your concern are being looked into. While i cannot guarantee an immediate fix, i will do my very best to get you an update or timeline as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can kindly follow these temporary workarounds until the issue is fixed by Microsoft:

Use alternative data resources: Try using Power Query or external APIs ( Yahoo Finance or Alpha Vantage ) to pull stock into Excel manually.

Try following the steps provided in this video: How to Fix Excel Data Type Not Showing
