I completely understand it sounds frustrating to purchase for Microsoft 365 and then not have your account recognized properly. To begin, please confirm that your Microsoft 365 subscription is active and correctly linked to your account:
- For personal account (e.g., Hotmail, Gmail): Microsoft account
- For work/school account: My account
Make sure you see the subscription listed there. If not, you may have signed in with the wrong account.
- Sign in https://www.office.com to test your license with Office online > Try opening Word or Excel in the browser. If the applications load and function as expected, your Microsoft 365 license is active and recognized.
- If you're able to open any Office app (such as Word or Excel), try signing out of your account and then closing the app completely. After that, reopen the app and sign back in using the same account associated with your subscription.
- If activation warnings appear when you attempt to use the Office apps, please provide specific details or a screenshot of exact error messages.
