Restore a previous version of a file stored in OneDrive - Microsoft Support

OneDrive allows users to restore previous versions of files, enabling recovery from accidental edits or deletions. This feature is accessible through the OneDrive interface or within Microsoft 365 applications. You can view version history, preview older versions, and restore the desired version to replace the current one. Steps to restore previous versions in OneDrive:1. 1. Locate the file: Navigate to the file in OneDrive, either through the web interface or within a synced folder in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). 2. 2. Access Version History:

    • Web interface: Right-click the file and select "Version history" or click the ellipsis (...) and then "Version History".
      • File Explorer/Finder: Right-click the file and select "Version History".
      • Microsoft 365 applications: Click the file name and select "Version History".
    1. 3. View and Restore: The version history will display a list of previous versions with timestamps and the option to preview or restore.
    2. 4. Select the desired version: Choose the version you want to restore.
    3. 5. Restore: Click "Restore" to replace the current version with the selected older version.Key points:
    • OneDrive keeps a history of file versions, allowing you to revert to previous states.
    • This feature works with various file types, including Microsoft 365 files, PDFs, CAD files, photos, and videos.
    • Restoring a previous version replaces the current version with the chosen older version.
    • You can also restore deleted files from the Recycle Bin. This video demonstrates how to use version history in OneDrive:
