Recent change to SharePoint Team site Minimal Header

Not long ago I noticed that there was no longer any padding between the site title and the Teams logo in the modern SharePoint team site header for all team sites on our tenant. I've tested on my development tenant and received the same results. It only appears to happen when the header is in Minimal mode, however. Compact, Standard and Extended header layouts all display the header correctly with padding between the title and the Teams logo.

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. Thank you for bringing the issue regarding the spacing between the site title and the Microsoft Teams logo in the SharePoint team site header to our attention. We have reviewed the behavior and can confirm that this appears to be a recent change affecting the Minimal header layout in modern SharePoint team sites. Specifically, the padding between the site title and the Teams logo is no longer present when this layout is selected. This issue does not occur in the CompactStandard, or Extended header layouts, which continue to display the expected spacing. What You Can Do****1. Switch to a Different Header LayoutAs a temporary workaround:

    • Go to your SharePoint site.
    • Click the gear icon (⚙️) > Change the look > Header.
    • Choose CompactStandard, or Extended layout to restore proper spacing.

    2. Monitor for Microsoft UpdatesThis may be an unintended UI regression or a design change that hasn't been fully communicated. Microsoft may release a fix or clarification soon.3. Report via Microsoft 365 Admin CenterIf you're an admin, you can:

    • Submit feedback or a support ticket via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Reference the issue with the Minimal header layout and Teams logo spacing.

I hope this information is helpful.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.Best regards, Hoang-D - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

Thank you for the reply, Hoang.

Changing the header layout for every site on my tenant is not an option, I'm afraid.

Since you were able to replicate the problem as well, I'll assume it is an unintended UI regression and hope that Microsoft fixes it soon.

    Thanks again,

    Scott
