I have a shared excel spreadsheet on one drive - I keep getting the error 'might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.' and can't access the spreadsheet. Other people can access. Any assistance welcomed.

    Hi Sarah Jones7272,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Thanks for reaching out.
To better assistance, could you please confirm details below:

    • Are you opening the file from a saved link, an email, or directly from SharePoint?
    • Have you tried using a different browser or device?
    • Are you on a work or school network, or using your personal internet?

In the meantime, I recommend some steps you could try:

    1. Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies

Sometimes your browser stores old data that can cause problems when opening files. After clearing cache, close and reopen your browser, then try opening the Excel file again.

    2. Using a different browser or try private/incognito mode

Your current browser might be blocking something in the background. Try:

    • Opening the file in another browser like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
    • Open a private/incognito window (usually found in the browser menu) and paste the file link there.

    3. Navigating directly to the SharePoint or OneDrive site

Instead of using a saved link or email link:

    • Visit OneDrive or your organization’s SharePoint site.
    • Sign in with your account.
    • Navigate to the folder where the file is stored and open it from there.

This helps if the link you were using is outdated or broken.

    4. Asking the person who shared the file to send a new link

If the file was moved, renamed, or the link expired, the original link may no longer work.

    • Ask the file owner to go to the file in OneDrive or SharePoint.
    • Have them click Share and send you a fresh link.

Note: Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Your detailed response will help us diagnose and investigate the issue more efficiently.
If I misunderstood what you’re looking for, feel free to let me know or share a screenshot. I’d be happy to help further!

    Thank you for your cooperation.
    Best regards,

Alex - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
