Many small businesses, churches, non-profits use Publisher. WHY did you decided to stop making it available.? It was easy to use and very much appreciated by many. Is it always about a cost factor? I have used it for school newsletters, flyers for events, bulletins for church and many more.

    Dear Susan Behlen,

Thank you for your message and for sharing how much you’ve relied on Microsoft Publisher over the years. We truly understand how important it has been for small businesses, churches, schools, and non-profits like yours.

Microsoft has made the decision to retire Publisher in October 2026. This change is part of a broader shift toward modern, cloud-based tools that offer better integration, collaboration, and support across devices. It’s not just about cost and it’s about focusing on tools that can grow with users’ needs in today’s digital environment.

We know Publisher was easy to use and well-loved. That’s why we’re working to make sure you can still do the same kinds of projects (like newsletters, flyers, and bulletins) which using other Microsoft tools such as:

    • Word: for newsletters and bulletins with built-in templates.
    • PowerPoint: for visually rich flyers and posters.
    • Microsoft Designer: a new app for quick, professional designs.
    • Microsoft Create: a free resource with templates for all kinds of projects: create.microsoft.com

You can continue using Publisher until October 2026, and we’re here to help you transition smoothly.

Please feel free to reach out if you need help applying these settings or if anything’s unclear. I’m here to support you!

    Best regards,

    Microsoft Community Support Specialist

I create a church bulletin every week & have been doing so with Publisher since 2005.

The problem with using Word to do what I’ve been doing easily in Publisher for 20 years, is that Word is not as easy to manipulate & move around in. You need to make Word more creator friendly.

    Hi Jamey,
Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience this experience has caused. We understand how important it is for Word to support creators more effectively, and we appreciate you taking the time to voice your concerns. While I'm not able to make immediate changes to the product, I strongly encourage you to submit your suggestions through the in-app Feedback feature (Help > Feedback > Send a Suggestion). This ensures your input reaches the Microsoft product team directly, where it can help shape future improvements. Your voice matters, and we’re grateful for your engagement.
    Warm Regards,

    Microsoft Community Support Specialist
