    Dear Maggie Mayfield,

Thank you for sharing your issue with the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your personal account not being recognised when accessing Office files on your iPad, I understand your frustration and will do my best to help you troubleshoot.

We would like to explain that there has been some feedback from the community recently about not being able to recognise accounts when using Designer, and we would like to get more information from you to check if this is a new issue that has recently arisen.

    • Are you able to access these Office files on other devices by logging into your personal account? We suggest that you can troubleshoot this on your PC or mobile phone.
    • You can also log in to your Microsoft account on the subscription screen to confirm that your product subscription status is correct: Microsoft account | Subscriptions

If your subscription status is normal and you can access it on other devices, this may be an issue with the username not being recognised correctly on the iPad, it is recommended that you try adding an alias to your account and logging in using the alias to see if you can access it.

Outlook aliases are email addresses that are associated with your main account, they use a common entitlement and use the same password, which you can refer to:

Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support

I hope this gives you some advice on how to troubleshoot.

If you have any progress or other questions, please feel free to contact us so we can gather more information to troubleshoot.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards

I think I have it figured out. The problem is, a pop-up shows up offering me to sign up for MS office, but no clearly visible option to sign in, instead. I did find small print offering “use another way” or something along those lines, and clicked that and then found my way to sign in.
