I followed the instructions to close my Excel workbook for my iPhone, but it doesn’t work. I went to the title bar where it says.

BOOK 1, tapped on it and tapped the back button< and nothing happened. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I hope someone can help me. Thanks a lot.

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for your detailed description of the problem encountered. I fully understand your frustration when you are unable to close an Excel workbook on your iPhone, and this situation can be a real inconvenience.

First of all, you have tried the correct procedure, which is indeed the regular method of closing. Since this method didn't work and it could be that the app is frozen, there are a couple of options we can try.

    • We recommend that you first try to force close the Excel app: swipe up and pause from the bottom of the screen to find the Excel app card, then swipe up to close it completely. Then reopen Excel and see if you can close the workbook properly.
    • It is also recommended that you check if the Excel app is the latest version. Sometimes older versions may have minor issues. You can search for Microsoft Excel in the App Store to see if there is an update available.
    • If none of these methods solves the problem, you can also try restarting your iPhone and waiting a few seconds before turning it back on.
    • You can consider uninstalling and reinstalling the Excel app (remember to make sure your workbooks are saved to OneDrive or local storage first) This will completely reset the Excel app to its initial state.

If this happens frequently, it's likely that the current version of the Excel app has some compatibility issues with your iOS system. This is not common, but does occur with certain version combinations. It is recommended that you report the problem (including steps and phenomena) to the developers in the Help & Feedback section of your app.

    Best regards,
