Unable to use OneNote on MacBook

Hi, I'm using a MacBook Air with the latest software and Microsoft 365. All of the other applications work perfectly apart from this one!

I have followed all of the threads that I can find, but nothing seems to work. I've signed in and out, deleted the application and reinstalled it, cleared the cache folder, tried online through a browser, and this application still will not work. I have to assume that if it still won’t work online through a browser then it can’t be my Mac but my profile/account for some reason. Any ideas? Regards, Andy

    Hello Andy999UZ,

Thank you for your post to the community.

It’s clear you’ve been incredibly thorough, and I can imagine how frustrating it must be to have OneNote be the lone holdout
when everything else is running smoothly.

Given that the issue persists even in the browser, you're probably right to suspect something account-related rather than a local device problem. Here are a few next-level steps that might help:

    1. Check Microsoft Account Health

Visit account.microsoft.com and sign in. Look for any security alerts, verification prompts, or unusual activity. Sometimes a stuck authentication loop or outdated security info can block app access in subtle ways.

    1. Try a New Mac User Profile

Create a new user account on your Mac and try launching OneNote there. If it works, the issue may be tied to user-specific settings or cached credentials in your original macOS profile.

    1. Use the OneNote Diagnostics Tool

Microsoft offers a OneNote Diagnostics Tool that can collect logs and help identify deeper sync or authentication issues. It’s currently only available in English, but it might give support teams the insight they need.

Kindly let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    James | Microsoft Community Support.
