Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has experienced this. PDFs that have annotations on this are not displaying properly (the text element of the annotations is missing) with this which combination of app version and iOS version. Older versions of iOS work perfectly, also works properly on Android.

Cheers

    Dear Rob Clarke,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue with PDFs not displaying text annotations in the SharePoint App on iOS v4.54.7 and iOS v18.4/5. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when older versions of iOS and Android work perfectly. And I can suggest a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Reset SharePoint Settings: Quit the SharePoint app, open the iOS settings, scroll down to SharePoint, and click on it. Reset SharePoint by deleting sign-in credentials and turning the toggle on. Then, re-open the SharePoint app and sign in with your Office 365 account
    2. Reinstall the SharePoint App: If the issue persists, try uninstalling the SharePoint app, restarting your device, and then reinstalling the app. This can help clear any cache or temporary files that might be interfering with the app's performance

If these steps don't resolve the issue, I recommend reaching out to support engineer for further personalized assistance - Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Moreover, you can visit the SharePoint - Microsoft Q&A and SharePoint · Community to see if other users have experienced the same issue and to review previous feedback. This can provide additional insights and potential solutions from the community.

Please let me know if you need any further help or if there's anything else I can assist you with.

    Best regards,

    Hi Doris

Thanks for the reply, we removed/reinstalled/cleared out setting etc and nothing helps. It is only the iPhones with iOS 18.4 or above that are affected (half of our iPhone stock), older iOS models work without issue.

    Cheers

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

Thank you replying again the steps you've taken.

Since the issue only affects iPhones running IOS 18.4 or later, this appears to be a compatibility between the SharePoint and the latest IOS version. Here is some solutions that I can provide:

    • Open PDFs via the OneDrive app or Adobe Acrobat Reader
    • Use the IOS Files app to access SharePoint documents and open them in a third-party viewer
    • Access SharePoint via a browser (ex. Safari) as a temporary alternative.

If none of these options resolve the issue, please free to reach out.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the reply, as a workaround the OneDrive app is working, hopefully the SharePoint team will update the iOS app soon.
