Why the Word documents from SharePoint app (IOS) are opening as ready-only?

I've been experiencing issues with opening Word files from SharePoint in the Word app on iOS since February 27th. When SharePoint attempts to open the file in Word, it opens in read-only mode.

I've verified all the permissions on the SharePoint sites, but the problem persists. Apps and IOS/iPad are updated to the latest version.

P.S. Opening Word documents from SharePoint using the iPad browser works fine.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

    Dear FCB Calgary,

    Thank you for reaching out.

First of all, I would like to inform you that in the last couple of days, multiple customers have reported similar incidents, some on Android devices and others on iOS. I have checked the Office 365 service health but did not find any related incidents.

We believe this is an undocumented issue. Please consider escalating it to our senior support team, as they have the necessary permissions and tools to test the issue at the server level.

If you have admin permissions, please follow the steps below. If not, please ask your organization's or school's IT team to follow these steps and open a support ticket on your behalf.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and any disruption this may have caused.

To create a support ticket, you need to have admin privileges. If you are the Microsoft 365 admin of your organization, you can sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center with your Microsoft 365 admin account, and select Support > Help and support, enter your question and select Contact support. Otherwise, please refer to How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Thank you for your time and patience, we hope you have a great day!

    Kind regards,

    Community Moderator | Sophia

    Thank you for your answer.

I already contacted Microsoft and here is their answer:

"There might be an issue with iOS. Unfortunately, iOS issues are out of my support scope.

Please report this through your Admin Center via the service.

I will also share an update once I receive additional information.

In the main time, user can access the site using the browser.

    Thank you for your understanding."

So, now I'm opening a new ticket with them. :(
