Hi, I'd like to upload a large folder to a project in Teams. But the folder weighs quite a bit. When I start uploading it, if I exit this tab, the upload is interrupted. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm using the desktop app.

    Hello Євгеній С,

I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum.

Uploading a large folder to Microsoft Teams can be challenging, but there are specific approaches you can try to make it easier. Unfortunately, you cannot upload a folder directly within a chat in the Teams desktop app. However, you can upload individual files during a chat. For more streamlined team projects, it is highly recommended to use OneDrive. You can create a sharing link to a folder in OneDrive and send it to your team members to access the entire folder and its contents. In addition, compressing the folder into a .zip file and sharing it with your colleagues is another approach to consider. Upon downloading and unzipping the file, your colleagues will have access to the entire folder and its files.

When uploading files to a channel or chat in Teams, follow these steps: Open Microsoft Teams. Click on the Chat tab or select a recent chat (or start a new one). Click the Attach button in the message section. Choose Upload from my computer and select the files you want to upload.

OneDrive for Business is highly recommended for teams working on files for effective collaboration. It seamlessly integrates with Teams and allows you to share files and folders easily. In Teams, you can also access your OneDrive files by selecting the Files tab in your channel and adding cloud storage.

Remember to stay connected during the upload process to ensure it completes successfully. These approaches will certainly assist you in tackling the challenge of uploading a large folder to Microsoft Teams. Happy collaborating!

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.

No, I don't mean chat, I mean when I upload a file in the Teams tab - Choose a team - File channel.

That is, when I actually upload a file in SharePoint, but through Teams.

    Hello Євгеній С,

When you upload a file in Microsoft Teams via the File channel, it is uploaded to the associated SharePoint site. You can now upload files directly to SharePoint through Teams, and it's super easy.

If you're using the Teams Desktop App, you can sync your Microsoft SharePoint and Teams files to a folder on your computer. This will let you work directly in File Explorer and access files offline. Any changes to those files will sync automatically when you return online. Don't worry, it's a simple process:

    1. Near the upper left corner of the browser page, select the Microsoft 365 app launcher.
    2. From the menu that opens, choose SharePoint or Teams.
    3. Select the site with the files you want to sync.
    4. Navigate to the Documents library or the specific subfolder you want to sync.
    5. Click Sync. This sets up syncing on your computer, and the files will sync automatically.

Now, to upload files directly to SharePoint through Teams, all you need to do is follow these steps:

    1. Open Microsoft Teams on your desktop.
    2. Click on Teams.
    3. Select the team (channel) where you want to upload the file.
    4. Click on the Attach button from the message section.
    5. Choose Upload from my computer.
    6. Select the file you want to upload.

Remember, when you upload files through Teams, they are stored in the associated SharePoint site, making them easily accessible to team members.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.
