Event response status discrepancy after RSVP

Hi,

I am using Graph API to do calendar sync for users. There is an issue in the status of event.attendee that the value of response is still set to "none" after an attendee accepting the event and the issue seems to be specific to personal account (outlook.com), enterprise account (Azure) doesn't have the issue.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Prepare 3 accounts (Google, personal outlook.com account, Azure enterprise account)
  2. Use Google Calendar to create an event and invite attendees of
    • the personal account (outlook.com)
    • the Azure enterprise account
  3. RSVP of accepting the event in both (personal and enterprise) accounts
  4. Query the event for both accounts by using Graph Explorer and you can see
    • attendee.status.response is "none" for the personal account
    • attendee.status.response is "accepted" for the enterprise account

Please further report to the engineering team to fix the issue.

Best regards,

Victor

    Dear @Vic,

Thank you so much for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on your description, this behavior is likely due to incomplete or delayed synchronization between external calendar systems and Microsoft’s backend for personal accounts. Unlike enterprise accounts, personal Outlook.com accounts may not fully propagate RSVP updates to the Graph API, especially when the event originates from a third-party calendar like Google. Since this is a backend issue, the best course is to submit it to your Microsoft 365 support channel and provide them your reproduction steps and affected account types. You can get support via here: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn or phone support: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

Also, I have tried to find in all material document from Microsoft and realize that there are many cases which had the same issue as you. However, there is no confirmation for a completed fix. That is why I highly suggest you contact Microsoft support for getting more professional help, there will be very professional people to tell you about the steps on how to realize this function.

I also find this article that may be related to your situation: responseStatus resource type - Microsoft Graph v1.0 | Microsoft Learn

I hope this information can help you to solve this issue soon and I also appreciate your understanding that I have tried my best to help you. However, I'm limited in my testing environments and cannot access internal databases to assist you further due to a forum moderator role.

    Wish you all the best!
