If your non-Spot VMSS nodes in AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) were automatically recreated, and you observed new nodes then something triggered a scale-in/scale-out or node recreation event.
Azure applies OS image updates periodically. AKS can automatically cordon, drain, and recreate nodes if you are on a node image auto-upgrade or maintenance channel.
AKS node auto-repair is enabled by default. If the AKS control plane detects a node in a
NotReadystate for more than 10 minutes, it will automatically trigger a repair (reboot, reimage, or redeploy).A VMSS node may be replaced if Azure detects provisioning failures, extension errors, or disk availability issues.
