Issues with MS Excel on Android

I have been using MS Excel on my mobile phone for several years now along with other MS apps and I pinned several Excel sheets to my home screen. Recently, these pinned files have been becoming unavailable on the home screen (the icon greys out) and the files disappear from my 'recent files' list in the Excel opening page. I can open the files again through my OneDrive and pin them to the home screen, but the next time I open the files the same thing happens again. I've also noticed a warning message in Excel stating 'There's a problem with your account or device, let's fix it'. When I click the continue button to fix this however, nothing happens. Has anyone seen this before? It's very frustrating and only seems to happen in Excel - my OneNote shortcuts and pins still work fine.

Hello, you may check and try the below and see how it goes.

Sign out and Sign in again

    • Open Excel and tap your profile icon.
    • Proceed to sign out and then sign in again.
    • Close and then relaunch Excel and try reopening the pinned items again.

    Clear Cache and App Data

    • Go to Settings and then Apps and then Excel.
    • Tap Storage and then Clear Cache.
    • If the issue still persists, try to Clear Data this time.

    Uninstall and Reinstall Excel

    • Proceed to uninstall Excel.
    • Restart your phone.
    • Reinstall Excel and then sign in, access your file/s through OneDrive and check if the issue will still occur.

In the event that you will still encounter an issue, it is highly encouraged to send a feedback with regards to this within the Excel app as this happened recently and most likely after a recent update as well.

Hopefully this gets fixed on the next update and in the mean time you can consider using another device like your PC.
