Fixes and Workarounds
Method 1: Restart Windows Update Services (Manual)
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find these services:
- Windows Update
- Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
- Right-click each one and choose:
- Stop
- Then Start again
- Stop
- Windows Update
Method 2: Clear Windows Update Cache
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run these commands one by one:
- This clears the update cache and restarts the services.
Method 3: Use Windows Update Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Find Windows Update and click Run
