i can connect my android phone thru usb normally .

Im sure many others are seeing the same needless problem but i figured I would ask anyway .

The issues with this poorly executed operating system never end !

If I have to disconnect the phone the only way the PC will see it again upon re connection is to restart the phone . This takes a couple of minutes and is absolutely needless since the system saw the phone the first time fine !

My question is , why bother making this difficult for us since microsoft has already touched on just about any conceivable way to waste our time with senseless actions ?

Just a week ago after an "update" my three year old copy of windows 11 said "not activated" in a watermark in lower right corner of screen . Going thru troubleshooters microsoft did its best to make me believe I had to go spend another $200 on a new product key because my old one was no longer any good ! Since I knew this to be more obvious nonsense I did the unthinkable and called microsoft .

Unbelievably they actually answered the phone ! I guess the "update" included a whole new version of windows 11 (24H2) ....which I was never told about ahead of time . In fact I was seconds away from deleting a mysterious new directory called "old windows" or something like that . I didn't know what this was because nobody tells you anything ! They just make major changes on your PC while saying nothing !! Fortunately after talking to tech support I learned this directory contained my 22H2 installation . Once again I was seconds from deleting this since I regularly clean up my drives in an effort to keep windows from bloating to the point where the PC is non functional .

I was able to restore the damage done by the "update" .

Regardless This USB phone connection problem is incredibly annoying !

On a positive not I built a new PC last week and installed latest copy of 24H2 onto it .

I have to give points to the flawless , trouble free installation process ! Whoever programmed that needs to be offered overtime !

I was seconds away from deleting a mysterious new directory called "old windows" or something like that . I didn't know what this was

Microsoft's support for the "22H2" version ended in late 2024. Their support for the "23H2" version will end in late 2025. Support for the "24H2" version will end in late 2026.

So, Windows Update installed the "24H2" version, to upgrade Windows to a currently-supported level. As part of the upgrade, it created the "C:\Windows.old" folder. By doing so, it allows you, for a few days, to "roll-back" from 24H2 back to your 22H2 version.

Note that each of the upgrades will use the original product-key; there is no requirement to purchase a new product-key, if you have not changed any hardware (CPU, RAM, network adapter, motherboard, DVD device) since you first "activated" your copy of Windows. Installing Windows onto "new" hardware usually requires that you purchase a new product-key.
