Hi, I have a Azure PostgreSQL Flexible database, and at 11:30 pm GMT+2 it lost connection to our app service, we cannot restart the database as it gives the following error:

Message: Restart and stop operations are only supported on servers that are in 'Ready' state. Server 'xxx' is in 'Ready' state.

This doesn't make any sense as the error states the server is in a Ready state.

I would ask you verify the actual state from the CLI:

az postgres flexible-server show --name <server-name> --resource-group <resource-group>

We should also check the activity logs for events. This is to ascertain exactly what are the events leading up to this.

However, most likely you will need asisistance from Microsoft Support directly to resolve this issue. This can be via this forum from a Microsoft staff if you have the support plan or via a support request

Following up on the discussion, the Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server in the Azure portal is unable to start or stop, with error message.,
Restart and stop operations are only supported on servers that are in 'Ready' state. Server 'xxx' is in 'Ready' state.

As mentioned, we attempted to mitigate the issue by getting back the server online. The cause of this issue is because of the VMagent is unresponsive.
