hello. i just check my registry and found 3 that i don't remember called "IPS" , "Nahimic" and "Sonicfocus" is that safe or is it a virus

    Hi,

    the registry is the point where windows stores settings. You really shouldn't be poking around in there unless you know exactly know what you're doing. This can literally nuke your system.

    A registry key itself is just a setting, not an executable file. Therefore, the registry key can't be a virus. It *could* however have been created by one (wich is unlikely though...)

    Check your hard disk with some anti-virus software like Windows Defender/Windows Security and see if it finds anything. If it doesn't, you're probably good.

    About using Windows Defender in Windows 7, which is where you have posted to>

    Windows Defender in Vista/windows 7 is an Anti-Spyware Program, not an Anti-Virus Program.

    You should have an Anti-Virus installed.

    If you are using Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc the default action is for Windows Defender to be disabled, as those AntiVirus Programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    It is nothing to be worried about.

    Using the two Programs at the same time can cause System conflicts, etc.

    If you wish to have extra protection against Malware use the FREE version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:
