Shared Printer (Drivers)

I have a few Windows XP SP3. They all have no problem printing to shared network printers hosted on Server 2003 R2 until about 2 weeks ago. I have not touched XP and Server 2003 for so many years. No changes were done on both XP and 2003. They all work fine until now.

When I look at the shared printer Properties, I get this:

The 'HP Universal Printing PCL 5 (v5.5.0)' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?

Clicking Yes gives me the wizard to install the driver. When I close the Properties window and reopen it, I get the same above prompt: "... printer driver is not installed...".

When I clik Print Test Page button, I get this:

Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?
Operation could not be completed.

Adding the printer locally to WinXP PC (print to Standard TCP/IP port) does not resolve the issue. It still gives me the same error/warning when looking at printer Properties and when clicking Print Test Page.

I'm out of ideas why this happens suddenly.

There is no support for XP or Server 2003.

You may be able to ask in the general server forum though:

Thanks for the links. I understand both OS are out of support. I suspect print nightmare patches have something to do with this. I have 3 Windows 10 Pro in the domain. Never had this problem until the last quarter of 2021. What I don't get is the fact that it breaks Server 2003 and XP printing as well as Windows 10. There are no patches for 2003 and XP for so many years.
