Quota approved but still unable to create HDInsight cluster — no available cores

Hi Team,

I raised a request for HDInsight core quota increase and got confirmation via email that the quota was approved for AV2 and Dads v5 families.

However, I am still unable to create even the minimum configuration HDInsight cluster. I tried multiple regions like Southeast Asia and Central India, but the portal continues to show 0 available cores, with the error message:

“You have reached your subscription's cores quota limit...”

I also followed up in an earlier Q&A thread (link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/answers/questions/2286489/no-response-to-hdinsight-quota-request-sr-25062000?comment=question&translated=false), but haven't received any response yet.

Could you please check whether the approved quotas have actually been provisioned in the correct region for my subscription?

This is blocking my progress and I am unable to proceed further.

Appreciate your quick help.

Thanks,

Vinay

    Hi @Vinaykumar Marali ,

there are two different quotas working together:

First you have a quota by VM SKU series (marked green in the screenshot).

The second quota is for vCPUs per region (marked yellow in the screenshot).

    enter image description here

Please verify both quotas are showing enough vCPUs for your requirement.

As I said before: The quotas are applied in combination -> both quotas needs to fit

    For instance:

    Quota AV2 = 10

    Quota Dads v5 = 10

You need a quota of Total Regional vCPUs = 20 to fully use both VM SKU quotas.

In the screenshot you can see the Region the quota is applied to. There is a filter for the Region in the portal to make it easier.
