Could not find a solution. Ended up delete Office 365 and the library files (to the extent I could find them..... it's not that easy) and to re-install it all. This fixed it.
Excel for Mac stopped calculating sheets

My Mac runs on OS 15.5 and Office 365. Today I noticed that the excel sheets don't calculate anymore. Even if I create a new spreadsheet with just a simple addition, it takes several seconds to show the result. I noticed that Excel updated today, and my new version is 16.97.2 (25052611). Of course I checked that automatic calculation is on, and I have multi-threads activated. Has anybody experienced the same? Wondering whether the update contains error, or whether my hardware has an issue. I did had a quick look at the activity monitor and could not see a problem. Thank you for your help.

For me after launching 2 multi sheet workbooks (2 excel files) when I am changing sheets in one file they are randomly in miraculously moved to another file, sometimes even creating new empty sheets.
Operation cannot be undone. I need to restore files after that.
In general Excel seems to be not usable anymore when working on multiple files. -

I had in Microsoft AutoUpdate go to advanced, change channel to preview and than back and install Excel only (also I've unchecked automated updates so no surprises like this anytime soon).
