RDDesktop VDI personal collections assign to SID cannot remove

Hi,

I have a Windows 2016 VDI deployment that is all working fine. Its setup with 3 brokers and a SQL server. All VDI are personal VDI and assign to user.

Several of the VDI are assign to a SID rather than a user UNC. This was likely caused when the user was removed from the domain before being unassigning from the VDI.

The issue we have is that we cannot reassign these VDI to other users or unassign the SID from the personal desktop.

Running get-RDPersonalVirtualDesktopAssignment for the VM returns no results, even though you can see the VM in Remote Desktop GUI.

Does anyone know how I can unassign or reassign these SID from the Personal VDI so the VM can be used again?

Thanks in advance.

Craig

    Hello, Craig

This issue might be due to the fact that the user was deleted from the domain without being unassigned from the VDI first, resulting in the SID of that user still being retained in the VDI database. May I ask if the AD Recycle Bin has been enabled to restore deleted users?

    Hi, Craig

I'm very sorry to hear this news. If you need to directly edit the sql database, for example, manually clean up the SID allocation in the database using PowerShell (which requires backing up the database), for specific steps, it is recommended that you consult premier for higher-level support.

    Hi,

That for your help. We are about to create a new collection and move user to this new collection which will sort out this issue for now.
