what is the ASHX format at sharepoint, and we couldn't access ASHX format url.

What is the ASHX format at SharePoint, and we couldn't access ASHX format URL. After generating report then we found the view of content have slightly higher, which folder contain ASHX format, however we could not access this URL, please help on this.
