So I'm looking through task manager and checked the properties and was surprised to find new users in the properties of all my processes they have group or user names of "all application packages" and "all restricted application packages" . Is this normal? Or has someone gotten access to my computer?

    Hello,

The presence of "all application packages" and "all restricted application packages" as user or group names in the properties of processes in Task Manager is normal and not indicative of someone gaining unauthorized access to your computer.

These user or group names are associated with the Windows operating system and are used for running Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications. UWP apps are designed to run in a sandboxed environment, isolated from other applications and system resources, for security and stability purposes.

"All application packages" refers to a security group that includes all the UWP apps installed on your system. These apps have limited access to system resources and other apps, providing a higher level of security.

Similarly, "all restricted application packages" is a security group that includes more restricted UWP apps. These apps have further limitations on accessing system resources and are subject to additional restrictions.

In summary, the presence of these user or group names in the properties of processes is normal behavior for UWP apps on Windows and does not indicate any unauthorized access to your computer.
